Working Open

Think of this as a process documentation and reflection blog being co-authored simultaneously by about 20 people.

While we are eager to share our field notes and reflections throughout this process, the goal of collective authorship among such a large group of staff and partners is challenging. We needed a tool that was easy to use and streamlines with our existing work flows. We decided to try out Evernote Premium and Postach.io. The Fellows and staff of Convergence Academies can download Evernote to their devices. We can record field notes as we go, add pictures, sound and tags and even annotate. Without having to log into a separate blog or wiki, Fellows can add pictures, sound clips and image annotations directly into their notes and then email their note to the Faculty Fellows Evernote notebook where it gets published through a simple tagging procedure.

That’s right, by tagging the posts with “published" , the magic begins, and these Evernote posts are automatically published to this blog. All subsequent edits to the Evernote posts are instantly synced to the blog allowing for instant updating.

While we do not have the functionality of a Wordpress, the access and ease for such a large group of participants, makes it worth while.
